Poem: Bahamian Sun Day by Claudette Dean

I kneel at the altar of creation
and commune with nature.
Tobacco dove sings
a hymn of praise...
Oleander and frangipani
purify the air...
Perched upon Hibiscus,
Butterfly gently preaches
of transformation...
Sun lays hands upon me
as baptism by Turquoise
and Salt cleanses and heals...
I kneel at the altar of creation
and whisper prayers of
gratitude.
